Safety on the Web

The following are some online safety guidelines for K-5 elementary students.

According to Internet Safety Tips for Elementary School Kids:
Internet Safety Basics

Help your kids understand that they should:

  • Never share their names, schools, ages, phone numbers, or addresses;
  • Never send pictures to strangers;
  • Keep passwords private (except to parents);
  • Never open email from strangers ā€“ it may contain viruses that can harm a computer; and
  • Immediately tell an adult if something mean or creepy happens.

    Nice blog! It was clear and concise and the videos you embedded were a great addition for making this topic more interesting and engaging to students.

    Jodene,

    A number of your tips were similar to mine, and I teach high school students. This just goes to show that many of the tips apply to students of all ages. I thought you had a very nice touch with the YouTube videos. It would definitely be helpful (and more engaging) to see that material presented by a cartoon or animated character in a very child-friendly way. Good inclusion!
